Entry Requirements

Academic requirements: You don't need any previous qualifications to enrol in any of our GCSE courses, you just need some basic maths for this course. For student who needs some mathematics push or brush up, we have designed for them a short course in mathematics preparation to study before starting the course, that is to fill up any gap in maths basics skills. The course is most suitable to applicants who has studied KS3, grade 8 or equivalent

 English language requirement: If your first language is English then you may skip this section.  

If your first language is Not English and you wish to enrol in our GCSE courses then you are required to take our free online English proficiency test, just follow the on-screen instructions to the end. To take the English proficiency test please click here.


The GCSE computer science gives the student the opportunity to progress to AS-level in computer science. The second option is to add it together with another four GCSE subjects to qualify you to meet with the admission criteria of most of British university Foundation-year (the number of GCSE subjects needed for admission depends on each university requirements). Computer science qualification allows you to progress smoothly to more specialised areas of computer, electronics and engineering branches.

Duration of the Course and Study Period

The duration of any of our International GCSE courses is 16 months, however, student has the flexibility to finish it earlier. Each International GCSE course would need approximately 300 study hours for each course; hence you may estimate the time needed for completing your course as below:

  • For 16 months study plan: you would need 5 hours a week per 1 each International GCSE subject.
  • For 12 months study plan: you would need 7 hours a week per 1 subject.
  • For 9 months study plan: you would need about 10 hours a week per 1 subject.

For each of the cases above we have allowed for 8 weeks revision period before the exam which we strongly recommend in order to revise and practice past exams papers.

Other factors to be taken into considerations when thinking of the duration needed to complete your course are things such as the number of subjects you study concurrently, whether you are employed or fully dedicated to studying the courses, your initial English language skills in reading and writing and other life commitments.

About the GCSE Computer Science

The GCSE computer science introduce you to the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science by studying topics including logic, algorithms, data representation, computer processor, programming, coding, algorithms, software, database, security and protection systems of computers and more of other interesting computer science topics.

In this course students learn to think of how to provide digital solutions for certain life or work problems through developing digital programs, that implies studying how to design, implement and test software. Students is also introduced to computer related ethical issues pertaining to the digital world and the inherited risks comes with technology on a personal or business level. The course sets the main building blocks of understanding what is the digital language and how computer can interpret it and convert a set of output actions or display it on screen to something that human can understand. 

Student will learn in this course the basics of some programming languages including writing codes and how computer can take a set of codes and convert it into specific sets of output actions such as operations executed by robots and controlled machines. Learning computer science builds confidence when dealing with digital devices especially in a growing trend towards computerising everything!

 Studying the AQA GCSE syllabi in computer science is an appropriate qualification for distance learning in terms of teaching and receiving education and taking the formal examinations. Once you have completed your course, you will have prepared yourself to attend an external formal examinations in any AQA approved examination centers across the UK. if you are living outside the UK, we recommend checking with the nearest British Council branch to you if they offer AQA exams (many of them provide).
